2024 JAMAICAN AMERICAN CULTURAL ASSOCIATION CARIBBEAN SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

STUDENT APPLICATION

Please read this form carefully and answer each question completely. Your application will not be accepted for consideration for the scholarship if all of the questions are not answered in full. Mark N/A for items not applicable. If you require additional space, please attach a separate sheet and include your name at the top of the additional page. Application Deadline for All Information & Documents no later than Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

 

CRITERIA:

1. Applicant must be a Charlotte (or any surrounding area), resident.

2. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, of Caribbean or African American descent, in the year of the award.

3. Applicant must provide documentation showing acceptance to a four-year public college.

4. Applicant must be a rising college freshman in the year the application is submitted.

5. Applicant must include a picture that can be used in JACA’s promotional activities.

6. Applicant must submit a 500-word essay on “When I graduate from college, ------------this is how I plan to help my community”. Please include your Caribbean or African American heritage in your essay.

7. Applicant must demonstrate scholarship -- in the complete sense -- consistent with capacity and circumstance.

8. If selected, the Applicant must be present at the Annual Scholarship Gala to receive the Award. If not in attendance, the award will be forfeited.

9. Please provide two (2) letters of recommendation including one from the student’s high school teacher or an administrator. Please have recommenders email their letters to jacahelpone@gmail.com
